November 2008

It was a eventful November -
I was able to attend a terrific autism conference in Ohio. She stayed with Mom and was able to see Cindy, Carol, Jim, Skip, Courtney, and Sydney. Mom is an amazing and spoiled me with mouthwatering meals when I got home from the conference. We got to enjoy a few meals out also.

We had Thanksgiving Dinner at Johnny and Shaunel's house in Evanston, Wyoming. Jackson entertained us with his turkey song (below).

After Thanksgiving, we went to the Grahams home for Jodi's Gingerbread House tradition. The kids AND adults had fun decorating the houses and posing with their finished products

Catching Up on September
The Tamarisk
I wanted to put this on in for Chris , Abe, Mom and Juli - We stopped at the Tamarisk to eat when we went on our trip together to Colorado. I was going through Green River last Monday and made Suraj, one of the guys at work, stop there to eat so I could remember our family trip and take a photo.

Wasatch 100
Here is the gang from the Wasatch 100 - We checked the runners in and out of our aid station all night. We set up tents, stove, and even a biffy. The runners could grab snacks, soup, cooked potatoes, pop, water, power aid or whatever they needed. GK's Blessing
The family got together to attend church with the Lowders so Patrick could bless his son and give his official name on the rolls of the church. Garrison was patient throughout the whole thing. Afterwards, we had a Bar B Que at Heidi and Patrick's house. Everyone brought something and it was a great feast. G.K . was given his first small taste of ice cream. We were really excited that the Conders and Grahams could make the trip from Wyoming to get there.

Greetings from Timpanogos!
We are still a little sore. That was two days of intense hiking. Bruce and I started for the hidden lakes area of Timpanogos on Saturday about 2:30 in the afternoon. It was a super hot day, and I was having some trouble with the heat as we started out. We made it to the camp area about 5 hours later. It was totally worth it - It's a little hard to see in the picture, but you can see Heber Valley and Deer Creek from up her.

We saw about 90 mountain goats. They were in our camp ground on Saturday. The kids were so cute. They were really curious about us and would come right up to our chairs and just stand there gazing. We also saw a bull moose on the way up and on the way down.The stream was pretty dried up, but Bruce was able to get enough of what trickled down to fill the drip filter at the TERT camp (TERT is Timpanogos Emergency Response Team)
The Hike Down
We had a good hike down. One of the good things about hiking later in the season is the abundance of wild berries. We ate service berries, currents, Oregon grapes and wild raspberries. This is Bruce stopping for a rest in the shade with Lance, the team leader. Here are some important dates:

Good bye to July

Can't believe July has gone already!
And what a fun month it was!

We had a great time with the grandchildren - and were glad Wendi got home safely.

Bruce was a telegraph expert at the Mountain Spirit Heritage Festival at Rockport State Park. He is here with the other amateur radio operator, Richard.
